One of the most beautiful most sensual wines we've ever drunk. 95pts - top Italian wine in TASTED Journal with Sassicaia. Beautiful vintage for Cupano Brunello. Cocao dusted nose, herbs, gentle deep and round with excellent structure. Fabulous for the cellar though a wine that you can drink now but will be wonderful from around 2016.

Tasting Notes

Good medium red. Subtle aromas of red plum, red cherry, leather and musky woodsmoke. Sappy, sweet and concentrated, with deep, creamy flavors of raspberry, exotic spices, orange peel and sweet pipe tobacco. For all its velvety texture, this is kept vibrant by brisk acidity, finishing very long and fresh - Ian D-Agata

Press Note:

TASTED Journal - 95pts - Andreas Larsson (World's Top Sommelier 2007 ) : Red wine with a medium dense ruby-red core, it has some more evolution on the rim; quite viscous with clearly marked legs. Intense nose with some evolution and complexity here; I get a lot of spiciness here, dry spices, with some notes of walnut, leather, sweet plum, tobacco; quite complex. The palate is really bold and opulent, and I think it’s nicely balanced in this style, without any hint of sweetness. It has a very broad and lush structure with plenty of extract, but I think those tannins are really fine, well-integrated, they add freshness and length to this like cocoa powder. Sweet red and dark fruit. I think the oak is very well-treated and integrated as well. Really broad, with a very good length. It really keeps lingering, with that fine spiciness and sweet fruit going on in the finish. Certainly a wine of very good pedigree, something we can comfortably put back in the cellar for 10-15 years, but I find this very drinkable rightnow. It’s lush, it’s bold, it has plenty of tannin, but it’s all well in balance now; and with a nice meal, I would take great pleasure in drinking this. 95 points The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is an unabashedly plush and modern wine with high extract and a big burst of ripe fruit that is tightly woven within its bold textural consistency. Biodynamic farming is implemented and the wine (40% of it) rests in new French oak for 30 months for extra softness, spice and intensity. Dark, sensual smoky tones fill in the rear with lighter brush strokes of toasted espresso, licorice and candied cherry. It is just beginning to shows its potential for further evolution, so give it more time. My only doubt concerns the high alcohol that is registered at 15% but feels like more. Drink: 2017-2028. - 92 points, Monica Larner,
