A A Badenhorst Papegaai White Blend 2018

80% Chenin with a splash each of Palomino, Roussane, Verdelho and Grenache Blanc. You simply don't get more personality in a wine for this price. We absolutely love it. You can have the most expensive winemaking equipment in the world, but to what end if the final result is neutral and dull? This is no-frills winemaking at its best, and the end result blows other wines in the same price category out of the water! On the nose it has ripe stone fruits, which follows through to the palate, with a light citrus zing, plenty of texture and a mineral verve that takes it to a long finish.

AA Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2018

The 2018 Secateurs wowed us with it's beautiful balance of weight and texture with a fine acidity that will quickly make this your go-to wine. It really separates it from the rafts of pub blackboard Chenins, and puts it in a category of more serious Chenin that often costs a lot more. This is really outstanding wine, and exceptionally good value - it could easily be twice the price and you wouldn't bat an eyelid.

AA Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2019

Apricots cascade off the palate into a heady blend of fresh pineapple chunks, stone fruits and dried mango with a hint of fresh almond. All that sweet tropical fruit is kept in check by a leesy, honey dew melon palate, dried mango, with a vibrant, almost peppery finish

AA Badenhorst Geelkapel Muscat de Frontignan 2017

This wine is named after the 'Geelkapel' snake the venomous Cape Cobra, that can morph into a brillant yellow after which this wine is named. From Adi Badenhorst's latest vintage - Muscat de Frontignan and White Muskadel, handpicked whole bunches, gently crushed by foot and naturally fermented for 2 weeks.

AA Badenhorst Sout van die Aarde Palomino 2016

Crunchy green apple, salted caramel and a whiff of smoke. Almonds and blossom and a saline core. Delicate, but incredibly nuanced and fresh.

A A Badenhorst Golden Slopes Chenin Blanc 2017

'The 2017 Golden Slopes Chenin Blanc comes from yellow granite soils at slightly higher elevation than Adi’s other Chenin and with a higher clay content. It has an intriguing, complex bouquet of Japanese yuzu, quince, lemon thyme and lemongrass, a little spicier than its fellow Chenin Blanc. The taut, linear palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity and a lovely sappiness toward the vivid finish. Excellent.' – Neal Martin Report 2018, 92/100

A A Badenhorst Piet Bok se Bos Chenin Blanc 2017

'The 2017 Piet Bok Se Bos Steen, which is named after the original farmer of Adi's estate, comes from vines planted in 1968. This is the first time it has not been blended into the Secateurs Chenin Blanc. It has a well-defined bouquet of yellow plum, white flower and light wax resin aromas that unfold beautifully in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a pithy core of yellow stone fruit, a fine bead of acidity and a waxy-textured, quite persistent finish. Superb.' – Neal Martin Report 2018, 92/100

A A Badenhorst Papegaai Cinsault 2017

Did you know that the collective noun for a group of parrots is a ‘pandemonium of parrots’? Worthy of inclusion as a Christmas cracker factlet, that one. Enjoy your own pandemonium of parrots by investing a case or two of Adi Badenhorst’s Papegaai (Afrikaans for ‘parrot’) Cinsault. The 2017 red uses the same high-quality fruit from selected old Swartland bushvines as the first vintage, but this one has a slightly deeper fruit profile thanks to a small proportion of Tinta Barocca - that Portuguese interloper on to the South African wine scene which the likes of Adi, Eben Sadie and Marelise Niemann use to such impressive effect. Joyous juice with more than a hint of Swartland swagger.

A A Badenhorst Family Red 2015

The 2015 represents a milestone for this wine - the 10th vintage Adi has made - and probably the best so far. You can overlook the Family Red in its youth but Adi's Family Red ages really well. It takes time to open up. So decant it and be patient.

A A Badenhorst Family Red 2016

'The 2016 Family Red Blend is a blend of 71% Shiraz, 13% Grenache, 11% Cinsault and 5% Tinta Barocca. It has a very pure bouquet, quite floral and intense, with dark cherries, black plum, warm gravel and light truffle scents, the 80% whole bunch completely disguised. The palate is medium-bodied with quite grippy tannin. There is good backbone here, quite dense but well defined with a chalky, slight austere finish, partly because Adi now undertakes more aging in concrete. Give this a couple of years in bottle.' A A Badenhorst Ramnasgras Cinsault 2016

Light in alcohol, full in flavour. This wine packs a punch. Nutmeg and sweet spice intermingled with bright vibrant red current, cranberry and strawberry. With such a delicate structure, this wine is perfect for red wine drinkers in the summer time. You could even serve it lightly chilled. Drink now-2021. This is the third vintage of Ramnasgras, only made in tiny quantities from the Swartland valley in South Africa.

A A Badenhorst Sk'windjiesvlei Tinta Barocca 2017

'The 2017 Sk’Windjiesvlei Tinta Barocca comes from a seven-hectare unpronounceable vineyard whose name means “gusty wind,” planted in 1962, when this Portuguese variety was becoming increasingly popular in the Capelands. It has a very pure blackberry and briar bouquet with hints of pressed iris and later, just a hint of canned prune. The palate is medium-bodied with black plum, blackberry and light white pepper notes, intriguingly almost Barolo-like in tannic structure, with gentle grip on the finish. Superb.' – Neal Martin Report 2018, 92/100

A A Badenhorst Secateurs Rose 2018

'The 2018 Secateurs Swartland Rosé is a straight Cinsault bottled in mid-April. It has a pretty red cherry and light grapefruit bouquet, touches of strawberry developing in the glass. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, nice weight (perhaps more than previous vintages) and lovely, pure red cherry and strawberry toward the finish. Excellent.' Neal Martin, Vinous.com

AA Badenhorst Caperitif Kaapse Dief #8

Nothing short of revelatory, Adi Badenhorst has taken vermouth to new frontiers with this remarkable aromatised fortified brew. Drawing from recipes dating back a century, this is spicy, aromatic, intense, and remarkable. Drink on the rocks with a twist, or with Adi's incredible Swaan tonic. "It's really really good stuff... I will be creating a twist on a vesper martini with it" - Helder Pinheiro, Head Barman, Annabel's
