The best Champagne look-alike we've come across

With its bready, brioche, yeasty nose, and delicious lemony, apply, brioche flavours on the palate, and excellent energy and length, you could absolutely think you were drinking Champagne. It's just remarkable. In fact, it really does taste like a cool, independent grower's, on-trend, bone-dry Champagne, that would easily be £30.


Stocks are ready to leave the Domaine but we don't know how much we'll need. There is a maximum amount left - which is 120 cases of the 500 cases made. I'd buy it all, as I'd drink half of it, but on the other hand, that's not really sensible.

 

It comes from Limoux. Sparkling wine has been made here for 500 years, which is 100 years earlier than in Champagne. I love that it's not Champagne, and that we are drinking Limoux, from just South of Carcassonne, from the clay/limestone hills of the Pyrenean natural park.
