THIS CASE CONTAINS
2 x Albarino, Nai e Senora, Terra de Asorei 2019

White flowers mingle with pear, peach, apple, a little tropical fruit and faint herbal notes. Deliciously quaff-worthy with refreshing, tangy citrus and tropical fruit on the palate. It has the light pleasing freshness of Gavi, but with sunnier disposition and more interesting flavours without being over the top. Wonderful summer wine.

2 x Domaine Horgelus Sauvignon Blanc & Gros Manseng 2019

Forget Cloudy Bay, forget Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre, this Horgelus Sauvignon/Gros Manseng blend costs almost half the price and delivers as much if not more. Typically it shows bright, lifted notes of lemon/lime, melon and grapefruit and a delicate herbaceous character. The Sauvignon Blanc element brings a classic nettle and elderflower zip, while the Gros Manseng gives a gorgeous tropical fruit depth. Endlessly quaffable. Drink from: the moment it's in your possession. Drink until: the bottle is empty.

2 x Vinicola Carassanese Linea Miru Rosso Piceno 2017

60% Montepulciano, 40% Sangiovese that is soft, juicy and a perfect party wine. Nothing pretentious here, just a really honest little number from the Polini family. I've drunk it 3 times recently and each time I've been amazed by its warmth, charm, ripe fruit and herbs, and can't quite believe what a bargain it is. If only bottles would come around like this more often. We try so many, and know how hard it to source quality at the price when so much is VAT and duty (£4 on at £10 bottle). Supermarket shelves are full of wines that are beefed up with additives to make it seem like they're worth £10 or £12, but often they're hollow. But this really shines. It has real authenticity and effortless Italian flavours. Bravo!

2 x Soli Pinot Noir, Miroglio, Thracian Valley 2017

Stick your nose in this and you get that mouthwatering, autumn leaves, smoky sous bois, minerally pinot perfume, wild strawberry, red cherry, orange rind, sandalwood-clove hints. The palate is mellow and supple, orange-inflected red berry fruit, hint of vanilla wood spice, sweetly suggestive mercurial pinot style all the way, soft tannins and a fine backbone of acidity. Yet again, a really moreish, impressive pinot from Bulgaria. Hats off.

2 x AA Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2019

Apricots cascade off the palate into a heady blend of fresh pineapple chunks, stone fruits and dried mango with a hint of fresh almond. All that sweet tropical fruit is kept in check by a leesy, honey dew melon palate, dried mango, with a vibrant, almost peppery finish.

2 x Buitenverwachting Meifort 2017

The 2017 is the purest it's ever tasted. New lead winemaker Brad Paton, has kept out some of the more rustic tannins that could appear in this wine, and just selected better fruit, that might otherwise have gone into the top red, Christine. It is ridiculously good, and although it could do with a bit of time, it will age for 10 years, it is also drinking better than other young Meiforts and can most definitely be enjoyed now. A vineyard owner who sets up a trophy winery in the Helderberg would be happy to slap their top label on this and charge £25, easily.
