The Uberblanc Rieslings from Tasmania-based winemaker Nick Glaetzer are named after the 'uber' vintage that he spent in Germany, learning how to get the best from this great variety under the instruction of the best teachers there are. The Goldpunkt cuvee is a selection of grapes from a couple of parcels, and the style is inspired by the Grosses Gewachs of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer

Press Note:

James Halliday, 93 points: "Grown on a single vineyard in the Coal Valley. Fermented dry. Kept on lees for 8 months. More complex both texturally and in flavour than you would normally expect in a young riesling. Mandarin, cooked apple, talc, citrus rind. A flash of honeysuckle. Suggests at sweetness without quite going there." "It’s the fruit sources that distinguish Nick Glaetzer’s Tasmanian rieslings. The gold dot on the bottle denotes what he considers to be better parcels of fruit, here 40% Tamar Valley and 60% Coal River Valley, with a total production of just 300 dozen. A few hours of skin contact and five months on lees for both wines make for an excitingly textural style, with phenolic structure and acidity melding seamlessly to build a linear and harmonious mouth feel around star fruit, red apple and grapefruit flavours. Glaetzer is not reluctant to leave some pressings in the ferment to build substance, flavour and texture, carefully tweaked with a subtle 2-3g/L of sweetness." Tyson Stelzer
