If the La Rupture (their crazy Sauvignon Blanc) has gone a bit punk, this is writhing on its back and air-guitaring to the Ramones with an oversized safety pin through its nose. This Marsanne is left on its skins for several weeks during and after ferment, giving it a warm gold/bronze hue. The nose is heady, gloriously oxidative with dried peaches, apricots, cloves and cinnamon. Smells a bit like proper bread pudding. The palate is extraordinary – there’s real grip there and beautiful texture – it’s all like proper, waxy honeycomb with the richness of sweetness but totally dry. I think this would beat a fair few Palo Cortado when paired with good Pata Negra. What an amazing and interesting wine. 14% Drink now - 2025

Tasting Notes

A white wine fermented like a red, Les Choix is Turner Pageot’s top white cuvee, which they first created in 2009. The grapes are fermented on the skins and stalks for two weeks with regular pumping over. The result is a wine with intense apricot aromas, heavily texture with bitter almond flavours and an intense minerality.

Press Note:

Turner Pageot was created in 2007 by the husband and wife duo, Karen Turner and Emmanuel Pageot. Both have an impeccable CV, working at some of the world’s best estates, including Brown Brothers, Taylor Fonseca, Chapoutier and Domaine Hugel in Alsace, where they met. They have 6.5ha of vines across four plots outside the village of Gabian, each with different soils – clay and limestone, basalt, schist and volcanic. All the vineyards are north-facing, except for the Grenache and are farmed biodynamically. The northerly exposure ensures grapes have a long and even ripening period with lots of natural acidity. The wines are table wines in the most practical sense – to be drunk with food, when they reveal their full character. GRAPES: 100% Marsanne
