There's a beautiful piquant fragrance to this - earthy red fruits, green pepper and green peppercorns. Red currants, hedgerow fruits and brambles and a gentle leafy sweetness. It's drinking now, and can only look better with time in bottle.

Tasting Notes

A few words from winemaker Carl: "We aim to work with vineyards that inspire a sense of wonder and apprecation. To work with varieties that suit the growing region of Stellenbosch, producing a wine that is delicately balanced and very drinkable. Finesse and drinkability trumps power and heavy expression. Carefully made wines that are delicious, moderate in alcohol and mood lifting, enhancing the gastronomic experience and having fun whilst making great wine." Cabernet Sauvignon from the foothills of the Simonsberg, where some wind protection is offered. Cinsault from a higher lying vineyard on Bottelary Hills, planted in the mid 70's. Cabernet Franc from vineyards on the lower slopes of the Helderberg - gravelly, weathered sandstone. Petit Verdot from the Simonsberg, tiny, incredibly concentrated berries. 45% Cab Sauv, Cinsaut 26%, Cab Franc 20%, Petit Verdot 9%

Press Note:

Greg Sherwood MW, 91+/100 "A very attractive nose greets you on this well constructed, well proportioned red. There is plenty of sweet spicy red fruit, soft fleshy red currants, sweet leaf, earl grey tea, cedar and tobacco spice. There is an opulence and generosity to the wine brimming with sweet black berry and foresty bramble fruits. Full core of fruit, dense but precise and elegant with a very fine seamless texture and a soft, pithy red cherry skin finish. A fine effort." Julia Harding MW ( 17 points: You can really smell both the Cab Franc and the Cinsault on the nose because the Cabernet Sauvignon is not overly dominant. Dark, savoury, perhaps a little reductive. Chewy and very young. Drink 2018-2025"
