Along with Giaconda, Sorrenberg is the leading chardonnay producer in the Beechworth region. This is a wine that will bring the widest of smiles to any Chardonnay-lover’s lips. It has that winning combo of generosity and lightness of touch – gorgeous ripe peach, juicy pear and honeydew melon fruit, a backbone of grapefruit acidity interplaying with dried honey and creamy-mealy richness, and a thrilling persistence - all down to Barry’s skill at making oak (typically 25% new), lees (battonage a-plenty) and malolactic fermentation work exactly as he wants them to do. Ambrosia in chardonnay form.

Tasting Notes

A wine to bring the widest of smiles to even the most jaded Chardonnay-lover’s lips. A generous lick of new oak and plenty of lees strirring give it a hedonistic richness, but it’s done with such lightness of touch – with a backbone of citrusy acidity performing some strange and beautiful dance with honey and creamy, mealy notes. Sorrenberg is about as good as it gets for Chardonnay in the Beechworth region of Victoria, and this 2016 will knock your novelty socks off.
