"Impeccable Barolo from Renato Corino." - Renato Corino. We second that. It's quite superb. Delicious now with super flavours and complexity. “I loved this wine so much the other night with some pasta and tomato sauce with basil. It was so very very good to drink. So rarely do you get Barolo that has such charm, with warmth, and depth, and delicious flavours when young, yet retains that integrity that a Barolo purist would like to see, that will see it through the next decade or two. Both write-ups from Galloni and Larner get the essence of this wine - “beguiling but plenty of tension..impeccable Barolo”… “expressive and broad with an open and genuine quality that distinguishes it from its peers” - Robin Davis, Founder, SWIG

Tasting Notes

Swig Note: An utterly astonishing nose - sour red and black cherries with cocoa dust, a mischevious whiff of French oak, autumnal leaves, cedar, with a bit of rain falling on hot asphalt. The palate is brilliant: dark cherries, wild herbs, ceps with tightly grained mouthfeel wrapped around beaten leather and a bit of tobacco leaf. In spite of all that darkness, there's a juicy brightness as well. Both forwards and backwards. Delicious now, but will improve easily over the next two or three decades. A treat for the impatient. 15% drink now – 2035.

Press Note:

"Corino's 2011 Barolo Arborina is a rare 2011 that could use time in bottle to fully come together. Freshly cut flowers, spices, savory herbs and dark red fruits form an attractive, mysterious fabric in a beguiling Barolo with no hard edges but plenty of tension and energy for the year. Expressive aromatics are woven into the inviting finish in this impeccable Barolo from Renato Corino." -Antonio Galloni, 93pts
