A tight and linear Chardonnay that is just starting to reveal its richer flavours now

Tasting Notes

Faced with an unfamiliar bottle, the shrewd wine drinker looks for clues on the back label. Take this Australian Chardonnay for example. Will it taste like a jar of honey that has been left in the sun or will it have the cutting edge of Australia’s new wave of winemakers? The clues to look out for are the alcohol content (a refreshing 12.5%), the region (the Mornington Peninsula is home to most of Australia’s Chardonnay pioneers) and the winery (Yabby Lake just won Australia’s most prestigious wine prize, the Jimmy Watson Trophy). This is a tightly-focused, hazelnut and citrus-infused Chardonnay. Drink now-2016.

The estate Chardonnay is one of the finest of its kind in the country and Block 6, sadly only available in miniscule quantities, is set to be a cult wine in no time at all, too.
