Don't drink this too cold. The fruit and aromatics will be muted and you will just get the minerality. A temperature of 10-13C would give you the full prismatic flavour effect: acacia honey, mandarin, apricot, citrus blossom, lychee, mango, ginger, lemon, bergamot and rosemary; a palate of invigorating tangy minerality suggestive of the wine's volcanic origin; textured, elegant with a clean, very long citrusy-saline finish, and comes with an abiding sense of linen shirts wafting in the breeze and sun-dappled balconies overlooking a sapphire sea. LIke some rare and lovely flower - you won't find another aromatic white like this any time soon. Drink 2017-2020


Tasting Notes

Vincenzo Mercurio (winemaker) cut his teeth at the historic Vinicola Mastroberardino estate producing multi-award-winning wines from the native grapes of Campania. Having done extensive research on microvinification and the aromatics of Campanian white grapes, he now consults for wineries like Raffaele Palma and Cantine Migliaccio, championing lesser-known, often vanishingly rare indigenous varieties. Italy is home to hundreds of such wine grapes, few of which are well understood or seen outside their respective regions. By producing high-quality wines from them, like a sort of crusading Mary Beard of oenology, Vincenzo is helping to redefine Italian (predominantly) white wine - no more insipid Pinot Grigio and Frascati: it's time for the technicolor brilliance of Biancolella, Forastera, Ginestra, Coda di Pecora and their ilk - unique, wonderfully aromatic, definitively Italian whites produced by one of the country's foremost experts in the field.
