Tasting Notes
These are stunners - if you love white Burgundy you must try the wines from Thibert. They have the character and structure of some of the hottest producers in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. These are no 'poor man's Montrachet', which is the tag sometimes given to the overachieving producers of the less famous regions (appelations such as Rully, Santenay and Montagny); these are the real deal. Rather than bunging all the fruit from the estate parcels into the fermenter Christophe Thibert, who took the reins from his father quite recently, identified a few parcels of the vineyards that had different soils. He vinified them separately with some amazing results and discovered he (and Pouilly-Fuisse) has some awesome terroir! I've just been trying them again this morning at room temperature and they are so good. It is a sign of excellent wine when wine still tastes great at higher temperatures. In fact it would be better not to serve these wines too cold.
