The aroma makes you think of top white Burgundy; it’s incredibly good with mineral purity and a wonderful top note. THere is also an intriguing exotic aroma; char-grilled pineapple, roasted peaches and fresh lemon lead with a chorus of vanilla, spice and melting butter. The palate continues this tune with bright acidity, but tasty like a cox’s apple balancing the clotted cream and beurre noisette from the very well-judged oak. Grapes: 58% Arinto, 24% Verdelho, 18% Antão Vaz. Only 300 cases produced

Tasting Notes

Sustainable organic practices are used, although the wine is not certified organic. The wine PALPITE (meaning intuition in Portuguese) is named in recognition of the many positive outcomes that have occurred through following a hunch. Vineyard Sites - FITA PRETA grapes come from a number of carefully selected, premium sites, owned by good growers throughout the region and are managed under our direction. The very best sites are composed of mineral-rich rocky schist and have the capacity to limit vine vigour while providing just sufficient water and minerals to support growth.

Press Note:

On the 2014 vintage (this is the 2015, which we think is even more lovely) - "This is simply beautiful, well-balanced, harmonious and delicious, with a lively feel..subtly intesnse and rather irresisitlble" One of Tom Cannavan's 'Top 50 Portuguese Wines'. A blend of 40% Arinto, 35% Antão Vaz, 25% Verdelho. There is something very intriguing and satisfying about this wine. It has a beautiful aroma that is a bit like white burgundy, with some oak, and a bit like a roussillon wine with some of its edginess. Made from the best vineyard blocks - only 330 cases produced.

Robin's Note:

People often ask me what’s the next up and coming wine country or region. Of course you can say places like Bulgaria, Hungary – but they still have quite a few years to go before then can really make an impact in the market, whereas Portugal is cooking. They still have some way to go but that makes it all the more intriguing. There are some very exciting things happening across the whole country, at all price levels. Palpite from Alentejano is just about my favourite white wine.

Customer Comments:

" Un vrai regal!" as the French would say. A nose redolent of warm peaches and apricots on balmy summer evening introducing lucky lips to a taste leading down a winding primrose path of pleasure to a last flourishing kick of pineapple! I have four bottles left to last me to 2020. I may be tempted to order a few more in due course. - Malcolm, Oxford.
