Swig Note: Lovely nuttiness on the nose, with a bit of fresh hay in the sunshine, enticing whiff of struck match and lemon peel. Coaxing brings out spearmint notes. There's a wonderful sense of completeness and honesty on the nose.
Gorgeous palate of citrus fruit, barley grist, with integrated oak providing texture but not invasive flavour. This is not all butter and no toast, but instead balanced notes of toast, butter, and fresh lemon curd. Forget your overbearing, overoaked Californian Chardonnays. Instead recall a village Meursault from Comte Lafon in the mid 90's. What a brilliant wine. 13% drink now - 2020.
