Dark cherries with a bit of kola nut, saddle leather and a touch of mint. There’s a nice mix of bright and broody there. Warmth without heat. Lovely perfume. The palate is filling, cramming itself into every corner of the mouth, demanding to be tasted to its fullest. Those dark cherries blend in with brilliant savoury notes that range from cured meat to wild mushrooms and a hint of forest floor. Brilliant stuff. 13.5% Drink now – 2020. Alan Meadows - Burghound.com - the Ultimate Burgundy reference. "Once aerated, the restrained nose displays notes of maraschino cherry and discreet spice nuances. The very supple and relatively forward flavours possess an attractive mouth feel before terminating in a dusty, delicious and nicely balanced finish. This is clearly meant to be enjoyed young yet there is enough supporting structure to suggest it should benefit from 1 to 2 years bottle age. Like the straight Pinot, this offers very solid quality for the price."

Tasting Notes

The nose offers sweet cherry fruit and forest underbrush, with food-friendly acidity and structure on the palate, and a floral perfume in the mouth and finish. Made in the style of traditional Burgundy, the fruit is sourced from non-irrigated vines with fermentation occurring in small open-top tanks that are punched down by hand. Many of the lots are fermented with native yeasts, and all malolactic fermentation occurred naturally. This wine is both unfined and unfiltered. Natural sediment may occur over time.

Press Note:

Alan Meadows - From 10- 25 year old vines, this is sufficiently reduced to warrant being decanted for 20 minutes or so. Once aerated, the restrained nose displays notes of maraschino cherry and discreet spice nuances.
