One hectare of vines planted at the foot of Bothmaskop Mountain in Stellenbosch’s Jonkershoek. And the year they were mostly planted? 1920. Yup, thats nearly a 100 year old vineyard.....

Tasting Notes

"We had our first “proper” crop ever of the vineyard in 2015 and having a bigger volume to ferment made a huge difference. After nearly a decade of farming this vineyard, it is finally responding and the vines which once were very abandoned are pretty much back in form. A number of plants have died, but we have replanted them and the young vines are doing well, although we will not include them in the wine for quite a number of years to come! This vintage is more quiet and restrained than usual due to the lifted acidity and it is a wine that still has a little way to go before one can even think about opening it." Eben Sadie, Winemaker

Press Note:

'This is a beautifully detailed wine that combines richness with precision. It’s only made in tiny quantities, but this sort of style seems to be the way to go at the very top end.' Jamie Goode "The 2015 is deep in colour, the nose showing white and yellow peach, naartjie and orange, bee’s wax and honey plus a little earthiness. The palate is rich and thick textured – very concentrated, even slightly ponderous. A particular wine from a very particular site." Winemag.co.Za
