80% Grenache, 20% Syrah, fermented separately, and again, no oak! Lovely fresh, frilly, and breezy nature and fruit aromas. Bacon fat. Oh wow, the bacon notes in this wine. Violets as well, wild blueberries, rhubarb, like an English Summer garden. The palate is reminiscent of sticking your finger in the dish when you're making a Summer pudding. Nothing rustic here despite gentle, precise tannins- all about that intense fragrance. Again, produced in line with the lunar calender - Picking, racking and bottling all in accordance. Despite it's obvious cellaring capacity, it's wonderful now. Time to pour a glass!


Tasting Notes

Picture this - a grotty disused sports hall-esque exhibition space 20 minutes out of Marseille, crammed full of organic winemakers, international buyers and a few weary, stained tooth members of team SWiG. Trust us, there's nothing glamorous about wine trade fairs. However, when you discover brilliant new wines, it makes it all worthwhile. May we introduce Terre des Chardons - the land of the thistles - authentic, organic wines from the Costieres de Nimes. After 30 years of producing vegetables, in 2000, owner Jerome decided to convert some of their apricot and fruit orchards to vineyards. From day one, they have been working in a biodynamic way, with Jerome stating, “it was the only way we wanted to go.” Despite being part of the Languedoc, these wines have somewhat of a Rhone character to them. These are the sort of wines you take a sniff of, and you are forced, like a magnet to take another - such perfume and poise. Eye opening wines! In fact, I think they might be the prettiest pair we have.

Which areas in the southern Rhône are most under-rated and why? 'I think the most under-rated area is Costières de Nîmes. There are beautiful terroirs and gorgeous wines. This is the reason I produce one of my own wines'
