The 2018 Secateurs wowed us with it's beautiful balance of weight and texture with a fine acidity that will quickly make this your go-to wine. It really separates it from the rafts of pub blackboard Chenins, and puts it in a category of more serious Chenin that often costs a lot more. This is really outstanding wine, and exceptionally good value - it could easily be twice the price and you wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Tasting Notes

Apricots cascade off the palate into a heady blend of fresh pineapple chunks, stone fruits and dried mango with a hint of fresh almond. All that sweet tropical fruit is kept in check by a leesy, honey dew melon palate, dried mango, with a vibrant, almost peppery finish

Press Note:

'I am a fan, but I’ve never been on the edge of my seat with excitement concerning this wine. There are a lot of Cape Chenins out there and this is a good one, but in 2018 it has elevated its flavour-delivery and sense of grandeur to an entirely different plane. The fruit is pristine with discreet pineapple husk, lemon balm and mint notes embedded in the lightly honeyed theme. It is long and vibrant but also crunchy and sour. It can tackle a good plate of grub or just be left to its own devices as a pre-dinner charmer. I love it!' Matthew Jukes, Money Week 'The 2018 Secateurs Chenin Blanc, which Adi described as "the most fun wine to make," comes from 28 different parcels, of which 17 are over 50 years old, on granite soils in the Paardeberg Mountains. It has a well defined bouquet of lemon curd and light white flower aromas. It is slightly viscous on the entry, very pure with fine acidity, and honeyed toward the finish, to the point where it could almost be a dessert wine (I could imagine this pairing wonderfully with a hard cheese ). Given the price point, this is brilliant Chenin Blanc and an outstanding value.' Neal Martin, Vinous.com
