Seems more lifted and delicate than previous vintages. That line of Normandy butter creaminess is finer than ever. Fruit is on the exotic citrus side but this is a much finer, more delicate wine than I would expect. Really lovely freshness and length.

Tasting Notes

Seems more lifted and delicate than previous vintages. That line of Normandy butter creaminess is finer than ever. Fruit is on the exotic citrus side but this is a much finer, more delicate wine than I would expect. Really lovely freshness and length. 31% Chenin Blanc, 17% Grenache Blanc, 14% Roussanne, 12% Verdelho, 8% Clairette Blanche, 7% Viognier, 6% Semillon, 3% Marsanne and 2% Palomino, all given about a year in large 500 or 600l, old barrels.

Press Note:

"White and yellow fruit, dried herbs and yeasty complexity. Real drive to the palate - super concentration and lively acidity before a pithy finish. 95 points" Decanter 'It doesn’t get more involved than the White 2015 from Swartland producer A.A. Badenhorst Family Wines, a blend consisting of 20% Chenin Blanc, 13% each of Clairette, Roussanne and Verdelho, 9% each of Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris, 8% Marsanne, 7% Viognier, 5% Semillon and 3% Palomino. The end result is compelling. Aromatics of citrus and peach plus flowers, dried herbs and gravel road dustiness while the palate has a great purity about it without being overtly fruity – it comes across as very deftly made with none of those components there by accident. Nothing too easy about it – in fact, it’s quite formidable right now – very tight and savoury – but should mature with benefit.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za 94/100 "The AA Badenhorst Family White 2015 blends ten varieties into an unshowy, lingering whole that combines ripe succulent fatness with a fresh, really firm acidity. A genuinely exciting wine." Tim James, www.grape.co.za
