Seriously impressive Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch
|
Tasting Notes
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! Surely South Africa’s finest Chenin Blanc? It tastes like an Enid Blyton picnic, with lemon posset, gingerbread, baked apples, butterscotch, golden pineapple, oatmeal biscuits and sweet spice. Plush and silky, with lots of rich oak influence and a hint of sweetness on the palate, but still very well focused, elegant and pure. Made from low-yielding Chenin Blanc bush vines, aged in 60% new French oak. Wonderfully opulent and thrilling.

Press Note:
David Williams, Guardian 20 Best Whites for Christmas 2012: "With its fabulously deep and inviting mix of honeyed apples, honeysuckle, acacia and honeyed almonds, this rich, weighty chenin blanc from the Cape's acknowledged master of the variety, Ken Forrester, has long been one of the country's best whites, and is a match for many a starrier name in both the Loire and Burgundy."
The Guardian, October, 2011:
"In a world of big brands, it's easy to forget that wine is about individuals. If a winemaker is passionate about his or her vineyards and the quality of their grapes, their wines tend to be equally expressive.
