Tasting Notes
Here we have one those Swig diamonds - the ultimate punches above its weight wine that we'd say can rival with many a Sancerre. It has wonderful nervy energy and such tongue-teasing refreshing tang, with kiwi fruit, a plushness of mirabelle plums, a soft grassiness and gentle herbaceousness notes too - a bit like standing next to a blackcurrant bush, with white pepper finish. Just divine with goats cheese topped salad with a drizzle of honey.
More Info
The Fleuriet family have a prodigious history in the region since the 18th century, first as humble farmers and cheese makers, and more recently as vignerons. But here we have Renaissance Fleuriet Freres, a story of collaboration between brothers Benoit and Matthieu and their friend Stephane Marchand. In 2014, Stephane could no longer maintain his vineyard, and so the brothers stepped in to help restore his 7ha of vines, and the rest is history! Renaissance's vineyards sit across 5 distinct terroirs, with much of them on excellent terroir in Sancerre. Organic since taking day 1, the 2021 vintage is the first as biodynamic.
